After the successful organization of the 2008 pre-Paragliding world cup event in Drama (video) with the participation of almost 150 pilots from all continents the air club Aiolos of Drama will proudly organize the Paragliding World Cup during June 2010
Organizer will provide live tracking devices for all of the pilots in the Paragliding World Cup so you can enjoy the race live.
Due to the low interest from the pilots flying certified wings in participating the AIOLEIA 2010 XC competition in the current scheme (higher entry fee and big prize money for certified gliders and as many prizes as possible and finally different radius around way points depending on glider category) we have decided to lower the entry fee of the competition and to be a normal FAI cat. 2 as it was in the previous years.

A picture is a 1000 words people say.
Obviously the sky over Drama who was so friendly the last 10 year was not in the mood to accept this year the paragliding pilots from all over the world. Maybe he wanted to take a year’s rest in order to be ready during the next season for the Paragliding World Cup and the Aioleia competition before that when pilots from all nations are going to come and take part in one of the strongest paragliding competition. Maybe he had other plans in breaking his own records for the area of Drama (highest rain in 1 hour, highest daily rainfall and highest rain rate) during the days of the competition.
Once again the usual suspects from the neighboring countries gathered to participate in this years edition of Aioleia competition. The pleasant surprise was tha participation of some new countries as Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, India, Serbia making the competition very interesting. A really high level competition was about to begin. After a short welcoming speech at the headquarters by the meet director mr Nikos Karidis all pilots and spectators were heading to the take off 148 competitors and many free flyers were ready to colure the sky over the mountains in the region of Drama.
